Gift Aid and Corporate Matching Programme

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is the government’s way of allowing the charities a UK taxpayer supports to reclaim tax the taxpayer has already paid to the government. For every point received under Gift Aid, the JLL will receive an extra 25 pence from Her Majesty’s Custom’s & Excise. If you are employed in the UK and are therefore a UK taxpayer, you can make your dues or donation go further by ticking the Gift Aid box online when you pay your dues.

Here’s why it’s so important to make a Gift Aid declaration relating to your dues: if every League member were eligible (that is, if we all were UK taxpayers), and took the time to tick the box below, the League would receive over £20,000 from the government this year – and that’s just on dues payments.  Such an amount would, for example, FUND ALMOST ALL of last year’s Holiday Hampers. Not a bad result for simply ticking a box!

* I am a UK taxpayer; please treat this and any future donation I make to the JLL as Gift Aid donations. (NB: what you pay in income tax or capital gains must at least be equal to the amount we will claim as Gift Aid each tax year)

Corporate Matching Programmes

Many corporations support employees’ charitable contributions through programmes that match dues and other charitable donations. Matching programmes can double or triple the value of your contributions to the JLL. We have included on the JLL website an extensive list of companies that we understand have matching programmes, however this list is by no means complete. Please check with your (or your partner’s) human resources department to determine whether the company participates and how to obtain the relevant forms. In the past, the JLL has benefited from matching programmes at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, UBS and Walt Disney, to name a few. (link to list online here)

Here’s why it’s so important to talk to your company about Matching Programmes: if 25% of our members obtained corporate matching for their dues, the JLL would receive over £16,500. Such an amount would, for example, FUND ALL of last year’s Learning Club Committee.

Thank you for taking the time to consider whether you can make your dues payment go further in the League!
